Introductions and small talk

I am the semi-eponymous Erinwiko of this blog. But it's a fast-paced world and you're busy, busy people. So you can just call me Erin.

If you were to meet me in real life, the first thing you would notice would be my diminutive stature. If you took me out to dinner, you'd notice that I'm vegan. If you came back to my place, you'd realise that I consume books for nourishment. And if you stuck around, you'd see that I might just be the most confusingly cynical idealist you've ever met.

Earlier this year I left behind my family, friends and life in my hometown of Adelaide to pursue work in community development. I'm now based in the grey cardigan-ed, administrative ghost town that is Canberra, where I work on development projects for Indigenous Australian communities. Chadwiko, my dear other, taller half, made the move with me, and has quite possibly saved my sanity.

I'm not entirely sure what this blog will bring. I love to travel, but that doesn't make me special. I cross stitch, but I'm not terribly patient with it. I take silly photos with outdated cameras, but I'm not especially good at it. I bake obsessively, but I'm no pastry chef. I'm just a girl trying to do what she can to make the world a fairer place to live in for those who need it. And if that's enough to hold your interest, then I think we'll get along just fine.
